Who Gets a 1099?

Only users who have received $5,000 or more in payouts from Melon within a given tax year will receive a 1099 form from Stripe. If you earned less than $5,000, no action is needed on your part.

What type of 1099 is needed?

Melon 1099's should be a 1099-K form.

How to Access Your 1099

If you qualify for a 1099, Stripe will notify you via email from [email protected]. The email should have one of the following subjects from the email:

  • "Get your Melon 2024 tax forms faster by enabling e-delivery"

  • "Your Melon 1099 tax form is ready"

What If I Don’t See My 1099?

If you earned less than $5,000, you will not receive a form. If you believe you should have received one, check your Stripe Express dashboard or contact Stripe support for assistance.

You can access the Stripe Express dashboard with a one time link by submitting your Melon email to this Stripe Form: https://support.stripe.com/express/how-do-i-get-a-new-invite-link

  • If you do not receive an email within 1-2 minutes of submitting, please email [email protected] (we have seen that some emails do not go through and have to be manually triggered on our backend)

What do I need to do in the Stripe 1099 Portal?

  1. Verify your identity

    1. Stripe may ask you for certain questions like

      1. "When was your stripe account created in Melon"

      2. "What was your latest payout amount"

      3. "What address does Melon have on file for you"

    2. You can find all this information in the Settings -> Profile page

  2. Make sure your Tax information is up to date, Stripe will tell you what information is needed but here are some examples:

    1. Company Name

    2. Company Owner Name

    3. TIN/EIN

    4. Business Address

When do I need to have my information updated by?

  • Please access your Stripe 1099 portal and update your information by Feb 15, 2025 so we can have your 1099 form sent to you in a timely manner.

    • Stripe was supposed to send out emails automatically to every agency who qualifies for a 1099, but it seems that some agencies did not receive the email.
