Why it is required
Melon moves money on your behalf, which makes identity verification a legal requirement rather than a preference. It also lets Melon issue the right tax forms at year end.
Non-US
Agencies and creators outside the US provide equivalent identification and complete US tax forms where required. See Melon for agencies outside the US and Canada and Can Canadian creators use Melon?.
Tax forms at year end
Melon issues US tax forms where thresholds are met. See Understanding your 1099 tax forms.
